  • GTS Energis has launched 10 Gbit link to Berlin

    Warsaw, December 15, 2005
    GTS Energis, one of the largest alternative telecom operators for business customers in Poland, has launched a new 10 Gbps bandwidth data transmission link between Warsaw and Berlin. The new high bandwidth link is a result of business synergy and the consolidation process of two of the major alternative telecom providers - GTS Polska and Energis Polska.

    GTS Central Europe Holdings BV (GTS CE), of which the national operator GTS Slovakia is a subsidiary, has entered into an agreement to acquire Quadia DCT. The transaction closed on 14 Dec 2005.

  • GTS to Acquire Telenor Networks and Nextra in the Czech and Slovak Republics

    GTS Central Europe Holdings BV (GTS CE) has entered into an agreement to acquire 100% of the shares in Telenor Networks and Nextra in the Czech and Slovak Republics. The agreement is subject to Czech Anti-Monoply approval. Telenor/Nextra are wholly owned subsidiaries of Telenor Group the largest provider of telecommunications services in Norway.

    Prague, November 29, 2005
    GTS Central Europe Holdings BV (GTS CE) has entered into an agreement to acquire 100% of the shares in Contactel. The agreement is subject to Czech Anti-Monoply approval. Contactel is a wholly owned subsidiary of TDC - the leading provider of communications solutions in Denmark.

  • GTS CE wins Capacity magazine’s Carrier of the Year award for Central and Eastern Europe

    On November 21st 2005 at Capacity Europe 2005 in Amsterdam, Capacity magazine announced GTS CE as the winner of its annual "Best CEE Wholesale Provider" award. The judging panel included senior representatives from Yankee Group, Ovum, Atlantic-ACM and Capacity magazine's Editor-in-Chief and Editor.

  • ADSL prices fall under the psychological barrier of 5000 HUF

    Budapest, November 9, 2005
    During its new ADSL campaign for home subscribers, GTS-Datanet offers an ADSL plan called easy_c with a download bandwidth of 512 Kbps, without any one-time fees, for as little as 4995 HUF (including VAT). Actually, it is possible to use the Internet for free with GTS-Datanet: subscribers of the easy ADSL plan do not need to pay anything at all for the broadband connection for four months after signing the contract. These ADSL fees are lower than the 'psychological border' of 5000 HUF, defined earlier by the Ministry of Informatics and Telecommunication. This is where most of the dialup users are willing to switch to broadband.

  • Mergers: the only alternative

    GTS emerged as the largest regional alternative telco after agreeing to acquire rivals Aliatel in the Czech Republic and Slovakia in December 2004 as well as Energis Polska in July 2005, which collectively doubled the firm's revenue to an expected EUR300m in 2005. "These acquisitions increased our blue-chip client base and enhanced our product portfolio, providing a source of competitive advantage that allows us to ensure higher quality of services to our customers," said Tamás Polgár, CEO of GTS to The Economist.

  • GTS and Energis consolidation, financial results for Q3 2005

    GTS has recently completed a purchase of shares in Energis GTS Polska formally became the majority shareholder in Energis Polska Oct. 7. In the Q3 2005, GTS Energis reported sales of over PLN 97 million.

  • GTS Novera at the Invex 2005 Fair

    The nationwide fixed operator GTS NOVERA, established at the beginning of this year by a merger between two major alternative operators, GTS Czech and Aliatel, will be first introduced this year at the Invex 2005 Fair. In Pavilion B of the Brno Exhibition Area, a haven of peace with an area of more than 100 m2 will be built, equipped with the most modern technologies and a relaxing putting zone for golfers.

  • MOM Park covered in a Wi-Fi cloud

    Budapest, September 26, 2005
    The cooperation of Aion 2000 Ltd. and GTS-Datanet resulted in hot-spots providing large bandwidth in the MOM Park Shopping Center. The specialty of the service is that it is available not only in certain shops or restaurants, but at any place in the building, from the basement to the uppermost floor. The wireless Internet can be used with a Mozaik PLUSZ card, which is available at the information booths, restaurants, post offices in Budapest and the central customer service center of GTS-Datanet.

    GTS Central Europe (GTS CE) announces today that GTS Polska has entered into an agreement to acquire 97.5% of Energis Polska. The transaction requires the approval of the Polish Anti-Monopoly Authorities.
