dataHome server center: 130 percent growth in half a year
Budapest, September 13, 2005
The number of servers operated in the GTS-Datanet DataHome center has grown to more than double in half a year. The outstanding numbers are a result of the high level of service and the growth of the Hungarian server hosting market.
GTS-Datanet opened its second server hosting center at the end of February 2005. In little more than half year the number of servers hosted by the company grew 130 percent, to 350 units, so in a short time GTS-Datanet has caught up with the leading companies of the market. Customers of the DataHome server center even include companies that operate in Germany, as the service provided is at the level of Western Europe, at very affordable prices. Besides the quality and the price of the service, the outstanding sales results were also helped by the development of the local server hosting market.
The server hosting service was born in the beginning of the nineties out of the needs of the Internet content provider companies - such as web stores, advertisement and news portals. These companies needed special computer centers to safely store and operate their machines, with large bandwidth, round-the-clock technical support, physical and network security, dust- and humidity-free air and constant temperature. Establishing and operating such a computer center may cost tens of millions of forint - but at the fraction of the cost the company can put their machines into a server center, developed especially for these needs.
The Hungarian server hosting market showed impressive development in the last four years. While in the nineties only 50-100 servers were operating in server centers, after 2001 a significant demand could be observed for the service. This year 300-400 servers were operated in this construction and this number has been growing 30-50 percent a year ever since.
GTS-Datanet estimates that currently about 3500 servers are operated in server hosting centers; 70 percent of the machines belong to middle-sized companies, and 15-15 percent belongs to small and large businesses. The majority of the market is served by three service providers. GTS-Datanet is one of them, currently having a market share of about 10 percent.
GTS-Datanet expects the Hungarian server hosting market to develop further significantly, although its rate will decrease: the company forecasts a 10-20 percent growth per year. The number of companies using the service is not expected to grow suddenly; the market will rather be extended by more and more servers put into operation by the already existing customers.
"Our experience shows that one of the most important factors for customers to choose a server hosting service provider is large bandwidth" - said GTS-Datanet CEO Géza Szathmári. "Our DataHome server center is a great choice in this aspect, too, because at the moment we offer the largest data transfer rates per machine. This may be the reason why our sales results are so much above the development of the market in the last six months. Our goal is to grow our market share dynamically in the following years as well."
