EUR 1 million network upgrading at GTS Datanet

GTS Datanet, Hungarian subsidiary of GTS Central Europe announced to upgrade its IP backbone network significantly. In the course of the pre-announced network maintenance works on 5th and 6th of August, the previous 3 Gigabit/s national BIX connection was tripled to 10 Gigabit/s and an other 10 Gigabit/s reserve connection was built up, as well. Besides the national network, GTS Datanet upgraded its international connections to 5 Gigabit/s.
The reason of the 1 million EUR worth investment was GTS Datanet's intensely increasing customer base and the company's plan to launch full local loop unbundling based ADSL and phone services in the near future. In the last months, regardless to the summer season, GTS Datanet increased its ADSL customer base significantly that counts 24,000 ADSL subscribers at the moment.
The company has established high expectations for launching local loop unbundling based "naked" ADSL service in September. Besides the "naked" ADSL, GTS-Datanet will also provide traditional or IP-based telephone services available in call packages - for no further fixed line subscription charges. The company wishes to reach 30,000 broadband customers within a year.
