GTS CE unifies Ethernet network across five countries of Central Europe
Warsaw, December 1, 2009
Recognizing the need for Ethernet services, GTS Central Europe (GTS CE), a leading telecommunications operator in the region, responded with the unification of its Ethernet infrastructure. This was achieved by creating a brand new Ethernet network based on the company’s existing fiber footprint stretching across five European countries: the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia. Development of this integrated Ethernet platform results in an enhanced new Ethernet product portfolio, allowing our customers to benefit from new capabilities, more flexibility and increased bandwidth.
The GTS Ethernet expansion plan commenced in November of this year, with 15 core Ethernet nodes to be deployed within the first three months in the largest European cities. The eventual goal is to have more than 450 nodes by the end of 2011 in cities where the company has its own fiber network. In order to enhance cooperation with international carriers, GTS CE has plans to implement Ethernet POPs at key interconnection points in Western Europe, such as Frankfurt and Vienna. As part of the product deployment rollout, superior Ethernet services should be launched by the middle of 2010.
Based on next generation technology, GTS CE will further expand its products, delivering high-speed, stringent performance, simple-to-use and, all above else, cost-effective solutions. GTS Ethernet services will be offered with up to 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GigE), enabling customers to mix speeds based on their preferences. Additionally, the company will ensure exceptional network reliability by providing 24x7 monitoring, diagnosis and centralised service management.
GTS CE, as part of the initial Ethernet rollout, will offer two new high quality products: GTS Ethernet Line service providing point-to-point connection with a guaranteed bandwidth of up to 10 GigE, and GTS Ethernet NNI providing a central handover connection for GTS Ethernet Line circuits to enable our partners to extend their coverage through the extensive GTS Carrier Ethernet network across the whole Central European region. In the future, the company plans to offer a GTS Ethernet LAN service with a multipoint L2 VPN connection.
“Until now we have offered our customers Ethernet coverage in each country on an individual basis,” said Adam Sawicki, CEO at GTS CE. “Having our own robust network with unrivalled coverage across five countries in the CEE region, and by offering one cohesive Ethernet portfolio, GTS can help its international customers with multiple locations to manage their networks more efficiently and to offer them high-speed data, voice and video transmissions. Starting from the middle of 2010, we expect the Ethernet business to grow by more than 20% annually. As this will be the first year GTS offers a unified Ethernet, we feel very optimistic about the future growth of the company.”
