November 22, 2005
On November 21st 2005 at Capacity Europe 2005 in Amsterdam, Capacity magazine announced GTS CE as the winner of its annual "Best CEE Wholesale Provider" award. The judging panel included senior representatives from Yankee Group, Ovum, Atlantic-ACM and Capacity magazine's Editor-in-Chief and Editor.
The award, won against significant competition from both alternative and incumbent carriers, was given to GTS CE in recognition of its increasingly clear leadership position in the telecom sector for Central and Eastern Europe. "The judges liked GTS Central Europe's strategy of acquisition and network investment, such that GTS CE is a strong competitor to incumbents in Central and Eastern Europe" said Mark Kemp, Capacity's CEO.
GTS CE boasts an extensive regional infrastructure inclusive of a large number of fully integrated national and local metropolitan area networks and collocation facilities. GTS CE continues to deepen its commercial and geographic footprint through organic investment in network and a strategy of regional consolidation. GTS CE's consolidation strategy has resulted in the acquisition of two national heavy weight alternative carriers, Aliatel of the Czech and Slovak Republics and most recently Energis of Poland.
"The additions have added depth to the GTS CE network, products and customer base giving GTS CE unrivalled regional scale with revenues now topping 300 million Euros" said Tamás Polgár, GTS CE's CEO. "This award validates our strategy, and provides further evidence of our growing importance to the Central and Eastern European telecommunications service industry. We think highly of Capacity magazine's accolade, as the publication is one of the most respected journals for the global wholesale telecommunications sector."
Further focused expansion within the niche region of Central and Eastern Europe is likely from this exciting and rapidly expanding infrastructure based carrier.
