GTS Central Europe announces 2009 first-half results
Warsaw, September 5th, 2009, September 5, 2009
GTS Central Europe delivered very strong financial results during the first six months of 2009, showing a 7% EBITDA growth metric and placing the company among the fastest developing telecommunications operators in the central and eastern European region.
- Revenue totalling € 189.7 m
- EBITDA growing to € 41.3 m
- Cash flow increasing to € 24.1 m
Adam Sawicki, the group’s CEO, commented: “GTS exhibited a strong performance in the first half of the year despite the economic slowdown and still weak local currencies. The results reflect the company’s focus on business customers and carriers, as well as our striving to offer our clients services of the highest quality. At the same time, GTS Group has undergone several transformation initiatives aimed at improving overall effectiveness and cost efficiency.”
While revenue declined in the first half of 2009 in comparison to the previous year due to the ongoing divestment of non-core businesses, EBITDA grew by 7%, which is a very good result compared to other operators in Central Europe. The improved EBITDA was driven by a growth in core data and Internet products, a shift in product mix, and a focus on cost savings.
During the second half of 2009, GTS will continue to implement the second phase of its transformation program, including further efficiency improvements, process design changes and fine-tuning of the new operational model across business units. In addition, GTS will proceed with further investments in network infrastructure, both on national and regional levels.
