GTS Central Europe Nominated for Best Regional Operator at World Communication Awards 2010

In recognition of GTS Central Europe’s (GTS) customer focus, enhanced solution offerings and consistent financial performance, GTS has been named a finalist in the Best Regional Operator category of the World Communication Awards (WCA), the most trusted global communications industry event. The nomination recognises GTS’s leading position in delivering telecommunications solutions in the Central and Eastern European (CEE) region.

The criteria for the 2010 WCA’s Best Regional Operator category included matching the service offerings to local needs, responding to market changes with service evolution and innovation, strong strategic direction and demonstrated financial growth. Throughout the last couple years, the Company has reorganized around the customer’s needs, thus creating seven business units - five country BUs (Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Romania) and two regional BUs (wholesale voice and wholesale data). GTS also launched a unique Ethernet platform across the CEE region with interconnections points in Frankfurt and Vienna as well as in each country. GTS’s large regional fiber optic/DWDM network coupled with the deep access networks provide the underlying infrastructure to continually add service-layer enhances to the voice and data offerings as well as leverage the interconnectivity between our growing data center footprint. Lastly, although the economic environment was difficult throughout the world, GTS has been able to grow EBITDA at 7.5% and Cashflow (EBITDA minus CAPEX) at 9% year-on-year in the first half of 2010 realtive to the first half of 2009 which was a direct result of focused changes in service offerings and continued optimisation of the cost structure.
GTS’s nomination for the Best Regional Operator places the Company among an elite group of finalists: China Telecom (Europe), Digicel Group, Hutchison Global Communications, Interoute, Singapore Telecommunications and Viettel. The winner will be announced on November 24, 2010, at a ceremony at the London Hilton on Park Lane.
