GTS Energis Granted Access to Local Loop

Warsaw, April 18, 2007
On April 17 2007, GTS Energis became the first alternative operator to conclude a LLU (local loop unbundling) access agreement with Telekomunikacja Polska S.A.

"Conclusion of the agreement on access to the local loop is an important step towards changes on the telecommunication market which will be beneficial to all customers. The agreement provides us with the opportunity to offer our clients the full range of telecommunication services, at the same time being a means of facilitating development of competition among operators with regard to access network (subscriber connections)", said Marek Konior, GTS Energis' Director for Inter-Operator Regulations and Relations.

Since the very beginning, GTS Energis has actively participated in undertakings leading to the increase of market competitiveness and once again, as the first independent operator, the company attempts to take advantage of changes introduced by regulatory authorities.

The agreement on local loop access presents GTS Energis with new opportunities for providing telecommunication services to individual as well as business clients. Among others, it allows granting Internet access basing on xDSL, offering leased-out connections as well as telephone services (analogue ones and ISDN access). GTS Energis plans to begin providing services pursuant to the agreement in the second half of 2007.

Within the past several years, GTS Energis was the first operator to have concluded an agreement on DSL access in the Bitstream model, and earlier, it had been the first entity to have signed a contract for dial-up access through the 0-20 numbers.
