GTS Nextra Connects OTP Banka

Bratislava, January 30, 2007
GTS Nextra, the largest alternative telecommunication operator in Slovakia, has been already for several months successfully providing its services to OTP Banka. All bank's 74 branches, agencies and offices throughout Slovakia have been completely connected to a Virtual Private Network (VPN), including Automated Teller Machines (ATM), making use of the advantages offered by the MPLS technology. Part of the project were also full backup facilities.

"Close cooperation between the two companies started by conducting a detailed analysis of the client's needs, with emphasis on optimising the bank's internal communications, aimed at changing the existing topology and increasing transmission capacities of the virtual private network. Complexity of the process implementation was further increased by the requirement to exclude any impacts on the real running of the bank operations. After the successful completion of a series of tests, the VPN was commissioned for life operation on September 1, 2006", explains Stanislav Molcan, CEO of GTS Nextra.

GTS Nextra enabled OTP Banka to optimise the costs of internal communications and increase transmission capacities, mainly by integrating available state-of-the-arts technologies. During the implementation process, OTP Banka also modernised technical solutions at the operating system level and memory capacities of all network components.

"We selected GTS Nextra as our partner mainly because of their dynamic approach to seeking solutions for increased demands in the area of data communications. The bank got a flexible solution which allows new processes to be implemented smoothly, and a partner who reacts to our requirements dynamically", assesses the cooperation with CTS Nextra Tibor Rózsa, IT Manager of OTP Banka Slovensko.
